This week, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) participated in a House Education and Workforce Committee session where he and other members questioned university presidents about their actions to protect Jewish students from antisemitic incidents on campuses.

“No American student or educator should be subjected to this kind of appalling antisemitic attack at any time, let alone when they are on campus. What is even more disturbing is that the leadership at these learning institutions are protecting the antisemite aggressors, which furthers the injustice against the victims,” said Rep. Messmer. “I am proud to be a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee which is doing excellent work exposing these anti-Jewish attacks and the hatefulness that embodies those perpetrating them.”

Earlier this year, a hearing by the committee highlighted increasing antisemitism at U.S. college campuses, questioning university administrators on their response to such incidents affecting Jewish students and faculty.

In a follow-up hearing this week, Congressional Republicans including Rep. Messmer pressed for further explanations from school officials regarding ongoing tolerance of such activities on campuses nationwide.

Schools like Georgetown, CUNY, and UC Berkeley have been criticized for not addressing antisemitism effectively, resulting in increased hostility toward Jews and decreased ideological diversity. Some institutions have even been accused of financially supporting antisemitic organizations.
