Today, Representative Mark Messmer (R-IN) announced the passage of H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This legislation is set to bring significant benefits to Indiana's 8th Congressional District.

"The One Big Beautiful Bill is a legislative feat, and I am very impressed with the artful way President Trump successfully shepherded this bill through the House of Representatives and the United States Senate," stated Rep. Messmer. "This bill will stimulate the Hoosier economy, providing our IN-08 community with new tax savings, fresh job opportunities, and better financial security. I am proud to play a part in delivering the Trump agenda and am pleased to participate in the long overdue process of finally eliminating colossal amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse in our federal programs."

The bill includes several provisions aimed at improving lives in Indiana's 8th District:

- It permanently extends and doubles the Child Tax Credit, offering relief to 80,020 families.

- The Standard Deduction is also permanently extended and doubled, benefiting 93% of taxpayers in IN-08.

- The 199A Small Business Deduction is extended for 42,320 small businesses in IN-08, preventing a potential 43.4% tax increase.

- It safeguards 13,000 manufacturing jobs in Indiana, contributing over $1.1 billion in wages and $2.3 billion in economic growth.

- The Death Tax exemption is extended for 9,302 farmers within the district.

- Investments are made into programs aiding farmers against animal and crop diseases.

- Up to $1 billion is allocated for programs at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane to enhance warfighter preparedness.

- Funding is delegated for hypersonic missiles and other strategic technologies developed at NSWC Crane.

- A federal tax credit for educational scholarship donations introduces school choice options for families.
