Congressman Mark Messmer, who represents Indiana's 8th congressional district, posted several updates on his official Twitter account in mid-September 2025. His posts covered topics ranging from youth engagement in technology to tributes for military service and public safety.

On September 17, Messmer encouraged young constituents to participate in a national technology competition: "Calling all #IN08 middle and high schoolers! Today is #NationalAppChallengeDay, and I invite all of you to compete in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge. Visit https://t.co/EIAQJxbuE1 for more information! The deadline is October 30, so register today! https://t.co/E8Nddu6mIB".

The following day, Messmer recognized the anniversary of a major branch of the U.S. armed forces: "Happy 78th Birthday to the @usairforce! https://t.co/kouTaS0ohR", posted on September 18.

Later that same day, Messmer described participating in an event with Representative Pete Stauber to support National Guard troops stationed in Washington D.C.: "Privileged to join @RepPeteStauber today in D.C. to show our appreciation for the @NationalGuard troops guarding the capital city. We are so grateful for their support and sacrifice. @realDonaldTrump promised to bring down crime and the results in D.C. are incredible!", dated September 18.

The Congressional App Challenge referenced by Messmer is an annual initiative designed to encourage students across the United States to develop software applications, promoting STEM education among middle and high school students.

Messmer’s recognition of the U.S. Air Force coincided with its founding anniversary; established as a separate branch of the U.S. military on September 18, 1947, it marked its 78th year in 2025.

His remarks about National Guard troops relate to ongoing deployments that have occurred periodically since early 2021, when units were stationed at key federal sites following security concerns at the U.S. Capitol.
