Nathan Runnebohm is running for the Republican nomination to serve on the Shelby County Board of Commissioners representing South District for a four-year term. The primary will be held on May 7.

As the Shelby County Post reported, father of two and lifelong Shelby County resident Runnebohm is running for the South District commission seat currently held by Don Parker.

In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Runnebohm, saying he was a candidate that "[shares] our values of supporting private property rights, championing fiscal responsibility, and tirelessly working towards enhancing government transparency." Kolean said that Runnebohm "[reflects] the conservative ideals that guide our efforts in rural economic development.”

According to his LinkedIn page, Runnebohm has a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership from Purdue. He owns Runnebohm Realty in Shelbyville, where he also works as a broker.

Runnebohm has previously volunteered with organizations like Toys for Tots and the Shelbyville Humane Society, and he has received numerous recognitions, including the Shelby County MIBOR "Distinguished Service Award" in 2018, Hecate "Realtor of Year" in 2023, and 2023 Shelby County Chamber Volunteer of the Year, according to the Shelby County Post. He has also held several positions in the business community, such as serving on the MIBOR Economic and Community Development Council from 2021-2024 and serving as Shelby County/Decatur County MIBOR Leadership Chair/Vice Chair from 2016-2018.

According to their website, the Shelby County Board of Commissioners serves as both the executive and legislative bodies of the county government. The commission has responsibilities spanning a number of broad areas, including supervising road and bridge construction and maintenance, developing programs to cultivate economic progress, auditing and authorizing disbursements for the county, and appointing members to serve on various boards, commissions, and committees. The commission is made up of three members, each representing one district.
